Today as we finish off with the Base Chakra we will cover the last few pertinent relations and finish off with a prayer/mantra.

The sense of the Base Chakra is smell.  This first sense experienced by the newly born child affects and enables the ability to connect and bond with the mother.  It is also necessary for survival, for instance smelling a mother’s milk and being drawn to the breast.

People and animals can also ‘smell’ danger, this triggers off the fight of flight syndrome which gives us a dose of adrenalin.

In modern day society and a prevalence of man made smells we are losing touch with  natural smells and the instincts that they arouse.

The root chakra is also the ‘first’ chakra, given the Eastern name of Muladahara which means root or support.

It is described as having four petals.  Each subsequent chakra has an increasing amount of petals, the number of which affects its vibrational rate.

Dense matter is with the root vibrates at a lower rate.  The root chakra has the lowest vibrational rate, it affects and is most affected by the physical body.

Every chakra except the root connects to the ‘subtle body’.  The root chakra is the chakra of matter and is linked to the most oslid aspects of the physical body such as bones, flesh, muscles and sinews.  Disharmonies in this area may be traced back to matters connected with the root chakra.

Working with colour, fragrance, crystals and the related psychological and emotional matters will therefore help.

One main thing with this chakra is to learn to love our bodies and to accept their challenges and limitations as well as their advantages and skills.  This is important for self esteem and physical healing.

Using Fragrances For Healing

You will have learn’t which fragrances work well with the root chakra.  You can use these in many ways from massage, bath oils, diffusers throughout the room etc.

Some fragrances affect more than one chakra and while for instance, patchouli is quietening for the root, it is stimulating for the throat.  So it is important that you set your intention for the purpose for the oil that you are going to use.

We have already touched on using colour for healing.

Crystal Healing For The Base Chakra

We have also covered previously which crystals are good for this chakra.

Spend time getting to know your crystal and you will instinctively chose the right one for you.  To clean or energise your crystal please refer to the relevant page at Aurorafacets.com

Hold your stone on or over the chakra petals, relax and reflect and meditate on the help you wish the crystal to focus for you.  A suitable timing is five minutes per chakra.

You can also use terminated crystals to help close after a visualisation or meditation by holding it over the petals and visualizing a cross or star in a circle of light over the relevant chakra.

There are two ways that I have found grounding also very helpful, one is to use Labradorite as a palmstone during meditation. you can find one here:  Aurora Facets Labradorite

Or I also had a custom order to make some Boho anklets made with Hematite another very grounding mineral and what better place to have such a mineral than on ones anklets, nearer to the ground and a constant reminder to connect to the earth.  These ones were custom made so there are no currently for sale but you can see what I mean here (and if you wish a custom one made please let me know):  Aurora Facets Custom Boho Grounding Anklets

Root Chakra Prayer

I have included two mantras or prayers below, the second shorter and easier, but the first just beautiful to use whilst meditating.

Root Chakra Prayer/Mantra

As you are probably now aware there is a wealth of information out there on chakras as a whole let alone individual ones.  My aim is to give you an introduction on which you can chose to increase your knowledge and or work with what is provided here as a solid foundation.

We will have a break for three days over the weekend to give time to practice some of the techniques learnt  before
